Manheim Central Grad & Chicago Bears Head Coach Matt Nagy Gives Special Pep Talk

Matt Nagy started his football career right here in Lancaster County. Growing up in the Manheim Central Football program, Nagy graduated with a 26-2 record and over 3,500 career passing yards.

Nagy excelled in collegiate play, setting more than 20 career passing records at the time. Nagy earned All-America honors as a senior for the Blue Hens after setting single-season records in attempts (379), yards (3,436), and touchdowns (29).

After graduating from Delaware with a degree in health and physical education, Nagy gained coaching experience at several Central Pennsylvania schools including a role as assistant coach at his alma mater, Manheim Central. After high school coaching, Nagy played quarterback for the Arena Football League for several years.

Nagy began his NFL coaching career with the Philadelphia Eagles, then moving to the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2018, he was named the Head Coach of the Chicago Bears. He orchestrated a remarkable turnaround for the Bears in his first year, taking a 5-11 team in 2017 and transforming them into NFC North champions.

The same year he joined the Chicago Bears, Nagy was named the 2018 Professional Football Writer’s Association and Associated Press’ Coach of the Year.
